In
relation to itīs population, Norway has the most BASE-jumpers per capita
worldwide. No wonder that this country now presents one of the most craziest
BASE-movies ever made. The name "1st BASE video" might be a little
confusing because the late Carl Boenish, who has initiated the BASE-movement and
died on a BASE-jump at Norway in 1984, has already produced a video entitled
"BASE-tape 1" 20 years ago. To make a difference, letīs just call the new video
"1st BASE-video of the Norwegians", although the guys had travelled
around the world to jump whatever was jumpable: a 90 m crane at Goeteborg, an
apartment-house at Miami or a skyscraper under construction at Shanghai. Further
highlights are the leap from the Oslo City Hall and a jump out of a hotel-window
at the Oslo Plaza Hotel.
We see a lot of cliff-jumps from the Trollveggen,
Unionsveggen and from the Kjerag: single leaps, group-jumps, memorial-jumps,
backloops, frontloops, turns (!), with wing suits, with smoke and riding down a
plastic sleigh. We can also watch a few retreaters. Furthermore we enjoy a jump
from a tree overhanging a cliff near Chamonix (F) and a tandem-BASE-jump from
the Karlskratind, when the tall passenger is running from the cliff with the
tandem-master strapped to his back.
